MEET SISSI
Born in Vietnam, Sissi spent most of her adult life in Bakersfield, California. She received a Bachelor of Arts in French, a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences, and a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from California State University, Bakersfield. Sissi worked as a School Mental Health Clinician for Special Education in the Kern High School District, as well as working in private practice prior to moving to Hawaii in 2009. Sissi also has experience working as a Military Family Life Counselor to support service members, their families, as well as their children in the school setting. She recently completed work at Kailua Intermediate School.
She now calls O’ahu home with her husband, Vic Copeland, and is enjoying all that life in Hawaii has to offer. They live in Kailua and enjoy worshipping at First Presbyterian Church, Honolulu at Koolau.
Sissi is licensed as a Marriage/Family Therapist in California since 2003, and in Hawaii since 2011. She works with children, adolescents, individuals, couples and families drawing from a broad range of therapeutic techniques including Family System, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focus Therapy, and Emotional Focus Therapy. She has experience helping clients deal with issues related to grief and loss, depression, anxiety, breakdowns in communication and interpersonal relationships.
It is important for Sissi to build a therapeutic relationship with her clients and provide them a safe environment to work through their concerns. As a Christian and a therapist, she has a strong interest in facilitating her clients’ healing and growth toward a purpose-filled life.
